RAY
Born in New Mexico, Ray's parents moved to Southern California when he was a year old. Growing up in Baldwin Park, Ray started living a life of drugs and alcohol. His mother was a Christian and would speak to him regularly about God. Finally, one day Ray felt compelled to go to church at Calvary Chapel West Covina, that night God spoke to him through Pastor Raul Ries and he accepted the invitation giving his life to the Lord that night.
Immediately after coming to Christ he felt that God was calling him into the ministry. In 1992 he moved to Belen, New Mexico, where he started Calvary Chapel Rio Grande Valley in the basement of his home.
It is the vision of Calvary Chapel Rio Grande Valley to continue to be active in our community for the gospel of Jesus Christ and grow as people are added to the church.

CHARLIE
HALL BAND
more
After honing his skills with rap tunes, and country songs about broken hearts, Charlie began to write in earnest, songs built around his own, and the people of his community’s visions and wrestlings with Scripture, the Holy Spirit, and living like Jesus in a fragmented world. He began this journey of songwriting in 1992, becoming part of the Passion movement in 1997, and has been an integral voice alongside them since, seeing incredible things happen in musical worship and acts of justice with this eclectic group of folks. He has seen many hairstyles come and go, and he has seen the world of music in the Church grow and shape-shift in myriad pulses and patterns.
Through this his heart beat and his mind raced to give song to the ever-moving landscape of worship music, taking in the dappled expressions of hymnody that the Church bears as fruit in places from San Diego, to Chicago; from Kyiv, to Kampala. The many colors and collections of the people of God give his songs a multiple-voiced concern for the often-forgotten ones: who offend our propriety, who make our consumption uncomfortable, who might just show us the most scattered parts of ourselves. Charlie works to compose in a way that invites our embrace of the broken into our adoration of God, that those streams are not separate, but essential together, to offer a pleasing song to God, as incense, as offering.
